The Lie

“Open communication and prayers keep a couple together” Jacob and Kaitlyn

Jacob and Kaitlyn are only married for one year and Jacob is staying at the office later and later. Kaitlyn has her suspicions.

Jacob and Kaitlyn are experiencing emotions that are common in relationships. Life presents different circumstances and how you react dictates the future. Taking ownership and expressing your true feelings, sometimes difficult, is key to maintaining a healthy relationship. Keeping secrets from each other can end up pushing the other person away because they can feel the separation.  In this instance, they both quickly slipped into turmoil when Jacob decided to protect his image and not share his new opportunity.

Jacob was staying later at the office because he is in the mix for a big promotion. He doesn’t want to share this with Kaitlyn in fear he will not be chosen. Kaitlyn feels he is distant and acting withdrawn and concludes he is having an affair. In revenge, she buys things that they made an agreement to only purchase together. This type of scenario can happen in any relationship, no matter how many years they have been together.

You will never find a resolution when communication looks like this. Kaitlyn is afraid that Jacob is falling out of love with her and choosing someone else. She is never going to feel secure unless she is vulnerable and expresses her true emotions. Jacob, on the other hand, by lying, has created mistrust breaking the intimacy between them. In a healthy relationship sharing your doubts and fears can be supportive and empowering.

The bootcamp helped Jacob and Kaitlyn realize communication is an essential part of living together.

Open communication and prayers keep a couple together. Well worth your time and effort.
